| THE CTW STAFF THE BOSS (by default!) Joanie Walsh Founder/Executive Director
First and foremost, Joanie Walsh is the mom of Ryan, Kyra and Cameron Walsh and wife of Jay (who does not have a theatrical bone in his body but will gladly talk sports!) She holds a minor degree in theatre and took theatre classes for many years as a child. She has performed in a number of shows from Grease to MacBeth and Cabaret to Lysistrata. As a singer and guitarist, Joanie is also a former member (many years ago!) of the Irish Band "Murphy's Law" that performed on the Irish pub scene in the 80's. The Children's Theatre Workshop was just a dream that sat in the back of her head as a "someday I'd like to run a theatre school"... until little miss Kyra said she wanted to try "doing plays". Looking around, Joanie found that classes were expensive and often far away. So...with a great deal of research, no money, positive thoughts and a lot of faith...The Children's Theatre Workshop was formed to bring theatre arts to local children at an affordable price. Funny how kids push us to realize that dreams just don't have to be dreams...they can be a reality! I will be forever grateful to Kyra for the "push" to follow my dream -I will always push her and her brothers to follow theirs. "When all is breaking up....something new is breaking through." - Unkown "Just Think Happy Thoughts!" - Peter Pan THE COUNSELORS One of the best things about CTW is - without question - our talented, caring, fun and at times a bit crazy counselors! The kids absolutely love them and Joanie would be lost without them! CTW takes a great deal of pride in providing positive role models for our kids. We could NOT ask for a better bunch than this. Here they are......the CTW counselors! (in alphabetical order!) ValerieAlbano Teacher/Choreographer
Valerie Albano lives in Wilmington and is a sophomore at Wilmington High School. She is a dancer at Lorraine Spada's School of Dance. This is her eleventh year of dance and she is on her studio's competitive senior dance team. She also helps teach younger children at her dance studio. Valerie is also involved in theatre with the Wilmington High School. She has been in a few productions and can't wait to perform more shows with the high school. Valerie plays the flute and is a part of the Wilmington High School Marching and Concert Band. In the future she wants to become a child psychologist. Valerie loves to work with the kids at Children's Theatre Workshop and can not wait for more camps to come. Ryan Breslin Teacher/Sets/Choreography
Ryan Breslin is a graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 2009, and will be attending Suffolk University in the fall. Throughout high school, Ryan was an active member in various activities such as the WHS Band, National Honor Society, and Boy Scouts. Drama Club was what consumed most of Ryan's time. He was in the school's musicals each year and in the a capella group "SoundScape." Children's Theatre Workshop is a completely new experience for Ryan but he loves getting children excited about theatre, just like he is. Ryan believes that the children at CTW are the future entertainers of the world. "There's only two types of people in the world...The ones that entertain and the ones that observe." -Britney Spears Kellyn Campbell Teacher/Assistant to the Director
Kellyn Campbell lives in Wilmington and is a member of the Class of 2010 at Wilmington High School. She plays three sports and is in the high school’s marching and concert band. Kellyn performed in several shows when she was younger through both school and the Colonial Chorus. Sadly, she is unable to participate in theatre at the high school due to being overscheduled, but loves the opportunity to be active in drama through the Children’s Theatre Workshop. She loves to work with kids and hopes they have as much fun as she does! Kellyn has no idea what she wants to do in the future but hopes that whatever it is, it will be both challenging and rewarding. Gabrielle D'Entremont Travel Troupe Director Gabby must be very boring because she has not sent Joanie her bio yet. That said, Joanie would like everyone to know that Gab DID NOT get the job because she is Joanie's cousin's daughter...she got the job because she's good! She's found her nitch with travel troupe!
Josh Gordan Teacher, Pizza & A Play
Broadway debut! (not really). Josh is not really fond of how bios always begin with "INSERT-NAME-HERE is..." (as they are so commonly begun), so instead he started it with a different, though still common, word for the commencement of a personal autobiography. In addition, Josh has never really written a paragraph about himself in this style before, so he currently has the bios from the playbills of Billy Elliot, West Side Story, Dame Edna, and Patti LuPone's Gypsy sprawled out on his desk for inspiration. "Holy haggis!" that woman is full of herself. Josh began his theatrical career as the stage manager for his middle school's 8th grade production of Peter Pan. Since then, he has appeared in such masterpieces (because without him, they would simply be your ordinary evenings at the theater) as Thoroughly Modern Millie, Into the Woods, Cabaret, The Fantasticks, Imperfect Proposal, and Singin' in the Rain. He has also worked on tech crew for Steel Magnolias and Bye Bye Birdie, and was the student director for Cahoots. When he is not in the theater (which is next to never), Josh is busy with co-leading the a capella group Notorious, collecting penguins, playing the Xylophone or Glockenspeil in the school band, extreme underwater-basket-weaving, or sleeping. Some of Josh's other special skillzz include being able to raise his eyebrows inexplicably high, do an infallible kermit impression, and recall any and all bits of theatrical/Broadway information from the last decade or so. This is usually the part of the bio where the author mentions where they are going to college and what they will be studying, but you see, Josh is going to travel to Loompa Land and start a chocolate factory immediately after high school, so college is not really applicable.
Dave Grossman Teacher /Voice Director
Dave hails from the very close town of North Reading where it's usually cold, but he spends most of his time at Ithaca College in upstate New York, where it's always cold. Entering his fourth year in the Fall of 2009, he studies vocal music education and theatre and takes on far too many projects every semester. In his spare time which he rarely has, Dave likes to play sports such as lacrosse and frisbee, as well as play far too many video games. He also runs an a cappella group known as "Henry Fonda & The Falsettos." His theatrical credits have included playing a gangster, a gangster motorcyclist, a dragon who eats people, a creepy father, a salesman and Rolf in The Sound of Music. Dave really is a nice guy, and has no idea why he always gets cast as a bad person. One time he played Snow White at CTW in rehearsal because the actual Snow White wasn't there yet. Jackie Mailey Teacher/Dance Camp Director

Jackie Mailey is a senior at Wilmington High School and will be attending Wheaton College in the fall of 2009. She hopes to study Elementary Education and become a teacher. Jackie plays tennis at Wilmington High School along with many other community service clubs. More than anything though Jackie loves to dance. She is on the competitive Senior Dance Team at Lorraine Spada School of Dance where she has been dancing for thirteen years. Jackie also loves music and has been playing the violin in Strings Attached for nine years. She has traveled to Italy and France with this orchestra. This will be Jackie's second year working at Children's Theater Workshop and she can't be more excited for another fun-filled summer! "Life is a dance, from one stage to the next."- -Anonymous "Great dancers are not great because of their technique. They are great because of their passion." --Unknown Mark McGillavry Teacher/Pizza & A Play
Emerging the nearby town of North Reading, Mark stumbled upon Children's Theatre Workshop in the Fall of 2008, bright-eyed and full of dreams. When he's not doing his thang at CTW, he acts throughout the school year in various productions at North Reading High School (Class of '10), as well as previously performing with North Shore Music Theatre's Stage 4 program. Past shows include Singin' in the Rain (Roscoe Dexter), Imperfect Proposal (Andrew - MHSDG Best Actor Award), The Fantasticks (Henry), Into The Woods (The Wolf), as well as The Rocky Horror Show, West Side Story, Cabaret, Bye Bye Birdie, and Peter Pan. He also played Mama in Maddy's (Pizza & A Play Student!) play "Snip Snip Salon" here at CTW. When he's not living in a theatre, he sings bass in 'Noteorious', the school's a capella group, and will be attending Emerson College's acting program for the summer, 2009. Once he's out of adolescant drudgery, he hopes to go to college and major in either film production or acting, he hasn't decided which. He eats far too much pizza and has a teddy bear named Mr. Roosevelt.
